The Washington State Health Information Management Association (WSHIMA) Annual Meeting is a premier event for health information management professionals. As with any "Do-It-Yourself (DIY) project, you turn to the experts for training and take that information to apply to your situation. This event will feature many of today's top health information management topics, ICD-10, Revenue Cycle, CDI, and Privacy. As well as sessions to address emerging practice, Kaizen, virtual teams, communicating a multi-generational work force, advocacy for the HIM profession and social media. Opportunities to network and dedicated time to learn about the latest HIM products from our exhibitor partners will also be included in this year's meeting

New This Year

  • The President's Reception and Book Club featuring AHIMA CEO Lynne Thomas Gordon. The featured book for this 30-minute Club is "Leadership on the Line" by Ronald Heifetz and Marty Linsky. Following will be a networking reception, take this opportunity to meet Lynne Thomas Gordon.

  • The Exhibit Hall "Goose Chase"! A Goose Chase is a high-tech team building event that uses your iOS, Droid or Blackberry phone to unlock teamwork, strategy and hidden creativity. Prizes will be awarded!

  • Kaizen - This presentation explores the many uses of kaizen to improve health and well being in individuals and work groups. Dr. Maurer has graciously donated his book "One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way" (a bonus gift to the first 250 to register!)

  • HIM Director and Manager Forum. This is an opportunity for HIM Directors and Managers to meet face-to-face to share best practice and brainstorm solutions to HIM Challenges.

  • Intensive Practicum-ICD-10 PCS: This workshop is an opportunity for hands on application of ICD-10 for those who have completed an introductory ICD-10 training session.
